Gitana VI – Sloop 65′
A bit of history… In 1974, Baron Edmond de Rothschild commissioned Sparkman & Stephens to design a new aluminium sloop in the Gitana lineage. Gitana VI was built by Royal Huisman in the Netherlands and launched in the spring of 1975. Thus began a special and intimate story between the yacht, Edmond de Rothschild, his family, and his friends. Designed for regattas and races, they participated in many events aboard it: Cowes-Dinard, Channel Race, Cowes Week, Fastnet Race, Giraglia, Middle Sea Race… Gitana VI would leave its mark on a whole generation of sailors….
But Gitana VI is also a cruising sailing yacht that brought together the family of Edmond de Rothschild in his time, and later Ariane and Benjamin de Rothschild, making it one of their favourite boats.
So, what an honour it is to welcome this iconic vessel for renovation work at JFA Yachts. For several months, Gitana VI will undergo a complete overhaul to check and renovate the hull, rigging and technical systems.
