The JFA CLASSIC 82 ATAO

The New Classic 82' Design for JFA Boatyard is an evolution of Aldebaran, our previous design for the same yard which attracted so much attention during last year. This bigger version has more internal volume with a different design approach. While Aldebaran followed a very strict classic route, the 82' has proportionally a longer waterline, wider stern and a more modern deck house and cockpit.

Many of the features of classic yachts have been kept but adapted for practical and styling reasons for more modern needs. Thus, the cockpit extends aft of a slightly curved deck house and the saloon skylight is linked to the deck house, in a continuous succession of classic items linked in a modern way. The sheer line has the necessary classical curvature and some hull port lights have been added to flood the interiors with daylight. An important effort has been made to keep big open deck areas. A very practical transom door system opens to provide a very convenient swim platform, with very comfortable steps.

As for Aldebaran, the lines are very classic above the waterline, with long overhangs and a curved stem, but with very modern lines and a very efficient keel and rudder underwater.

The JFA Classic has an interior with an epoch in the 1920s. It has influences from the colonial style. French Cherry is the timber choice for the lower furniture whilst the floor is oiled teak, all the upper furniture and panels are painted white, louvered panels on upper furniture keep the visual weight low creating a sense of calm and space.

The layout centers around a Pilothouse with excellent visibility, even when seated. The owners cabin can be accessed from here via a stairway leading aft. The owners cabin has a central bed with bookcases either side, outboard seating and a writing desk. There is an en suite bathroom and access to the starboard guest cabin via a lobby. The main saloon is accessed from the forward stair in the pilothouse and starboard guest cabin. In the main saloon there is a relaxed seating area and formal dinning area.
